Moving Media in the Americas, Conference, December 4, 5 and 6, Tulane University

This three-day conference at Tulane University brings together emerging and established scholars and practitioners of Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx cinema and media. About 100 national and international participants will present work that explores a wide range of topics and the conference theme, Moving Media. Technological innovations—from neoliberal platforms to offline distribution systems—are moving media across the Americas in new ways, connecting the region globally while drawing on earlier histories of transnationalism and intermediality. The program includes panels, theory-practice presentations, screenings, workshops, and book presentations. The event also honors Ana López, a foundational figure in Latin American and Latinx film and media studies, whose work on transnationalism, intermediality, and affect continues to guide the field.
