Dunja Fehimović

Dunja Fehimović is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Hispanic Studies at Newcastle University UK, and principal investigator on the research project “(De)colonial Ecologies in 21st-century insular Hispanic Caribbean Film.” Her work spans questions of national and regional Caribbean identities, neoliberalism and branding, ethics and otherness, temporality and ecology. She is the author of National Identity in 21st-Century Cuban Cinema: Screening the Repeating Island (2018). Dunja is interested in exploring the Caribbean through a relational lens and promoting the visibility of Caribbean cinemas via academic initiatives, such as the international conference Mare Nostrum, and public engagement, such as online platform Caribbean Film Forum.
