Thomas Matusiak is Assistant Professor of Latin American cultural studies at the University of Miami. His research centers on the relations between aesthetics and politics in cinema and media. He is the author of The Visual Guillotine: The Cinematic Cut and the Form of Politics in Latin America (University of Minnesota Press, forthcoming). His research has also appeared in the Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies, Romance Quarterly, Latin American Research Review, and Revista Hispánica Moderna, among other venues. Previously, he was Assistant Professor at SWPS University in Warsaw and Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow at Dartmouth College.
