Masha Salazkina

Masha Salazkina is Professor of Film Studies at Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. She is the author of Romancing Yesenia: How a Mexican Melodrama Shaped Global Popular Culture (UC Press, 2024),
World Socialist Cinema: Alliances, Affinities and Solidarities in the Global Cold War (UC Press, 2023), and In Excess: Sergei Eisenstein’s Mexico (Chicago, 2009). She has published essays in Cinema Journal, Film History, October, Screen, among others, and edited collections on the geopolitics of film and media theory production; theorizations of World Cinema; history of film education; cinemas of solidarity; non-professional cinema; and global circulation of popular culture.
