Emmanuel Ramos-Barajas

Emmanuel Ramos-Barajas (he/him) is a doctoral student in Screen Cultures at Northwestern University. He focuses on nineteenth century cultural production and twentieth century cinematic practices that feature representations of Mexico and the United States. He examines how this visual culture informs our understanding of national identifications, history, and culture from a transnational perspective. Additionally, his creative endeavors bridge the realms of academia, remix culture, and the digital humanities. As a research-based image maker, he navigates the intricate connections between cultural production, visual technologies and landscape representation, underlining the pivotal role images play in shaping perceptions of nature and the past.
