Julia Nava is a second year PhD student in the Department of Film and Media Studies at the University of California, Irvine. Her research focuses on Latinx media studies, digital media piracy, and feminist theory. Nava’s research traces the ways in which digital technologies and internet piracy methods have enabled media access, cultural exchange, and diasporic community formations in Los Angeles.
