Patricia Arroyo Calderón

Patricia Arroyo Calderón is Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at UCLA and Director of the Central American Studies Working Group at the UCLA Latin American Institute. Her research focuses on Central American cultural production, with an emphasis on 19th-century women’s writing, Indigenous literatures, and contemporary film. Her latest publications have appeared in edited volumes such as Mapping Diversity in Latin America: Race and Ethnicity from Colonial Times to Present (2025), The Rise of Central American Film in the 21st Century (2023), Los usos de la creatividad: horizontes en estudios culturales (2023), and Teaching Central American Literature in a Global Context (2022).
