Wilfredo José Burgos Matos, Ph.D., is a scholar, writer, and musician specializing in the sonic geographies of Dominican music. He teaches in the Department of Latin American and Latino Studies at Lehman College, CUNY. His work has been published and presented in Brazil, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Spain, Puerto Rico, and the United States. He is the senior researcher for the digital project Dominican Music History in the United States, an initiative of the CUNY Dominican Studies Institute, supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH).
